While driving home from an AM church service, I asked the Lord to prove my songs were coming from Him by giving me another song. The sermon was from Psalm 103 where my pastor also shared the story of an impoverished, hymn writer, which profoundly resonated with my spirit because of my nearly identical experiences and circumstances at the time.

The sermon was from Psalm 103 where my pastor also shared the story of an impoverished, hymn writer, which profoundly resonated with my spirit because of my nearly identical experiences and circumstances at the time.
As soon as I got home and picked up my guitar and Bible, the words and music came to me for BLESS THE LORD. The words are directly from Psalm 103 like the sermon. The song was also completed before the PM service just as I had prayed. And God seemed to give His thunderous-approval by allowing an actual, real-time thunderstorm be captured on the initial demo recording.
